The Community Channel, a TV station with the tag line 'TV that gives a damn', approached web development company Oida with the intention of creating a game conceived by the channel's Online producer. 'Chugger Chase' was briefed as a 'Pac-man' style game, playing as a member of the public trying to evade Charity Muggers as you navigate the levels picking up points.
Working closely together, Owen and Oida vastly exceeded expectation, creating large free roaming isometric landscapes and bringing the idea to the forefront of what is possible with flash games.
Chugger Chase has become a popular and effective game. Striking chords in current debates about how charities conduct their fundraising.
